Virtual Tour - London Slave Owners

Looking at some of the many London people who owned plantations where enslaved people worked. Who were they, where did they live?

Description

We have now moved to a new booking system. Please visit Virtual Tour - London Slave Owners to view and book this event.

When keeping people in slavery was abolished in Britain, the owners of plantations that used slaves were given compensation. The enslaved people got nothing. Thanks to these compensation records we know about some of the people who benefited from slavery - plantation owners, land owners and the slave traders themselves.

This talk on Zoom looks at some of the people in London who owned slaves. Rob will talk about who they were, where they lived, what they spent their ill gotten money on, and what legacy they have left in London today.

Rob SmithCan't make this time? Book anyway as this talk will be recorded and available to watch for 2 weeks.
