Visit: Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great

Come and explore 900 years of history

Description

Come and explore 900 years of history with a guided tour inside the ancient Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great, London’s oldest surviving parish church.  Along the way, our guide will introduce you to the jester in the court of King Henry I who built the church, the monks who brought free healthcare to London, the canon who had a visitation from the Virgin Mary, and other intriguing and colourful figures from the Middle Ages to the Tudor period and beyond.

Come and see London’s only indoor Oriel window, the chapel which was once Benjamin Franklin’s printing workshop, the font where William Hogarth was christened, and the tomb that weeps.
