Creating a One-Street Study to Build a Picture of Your Ancestor's Lives

Create a historical picture of your street or village or those where your ancestors lived, by using a variety of sources.

In this talk, Gill Thomas looks at using Census returns, First World War records and church memorials, rate books, electoral rolls, local newspaper cuttings and school records, enabling you to build a colourful picture of their surroundings, a process akin to recolouring a black and white picture!

About the tutor: Gill Thomas has a background in History, and took her B.A at the University College Cardiff and has a Postgraduate Certificate in Genealogical Studies at the University of Strathclyde.

She is the owner of ‘Who What Where Research services’ and is based in London. She is a member of AGRA and is the author of the One-Street Study, Weston Road in Chiswick.
